Responsible Gambling
Practical information for keeping gambling within sensible limits and knowing where to turn for help.

Playing with real money is a form of entertainment and, as such, it carries financial risk. No strategy, system or promotion removes that risk. This section sets out the basics for keeping the experience under control.
Strictly 18+
Access to online gambling platforms is restricted to people aged 18 or over. Authorised platforms request identity and age verification during registration. Enabling access for minors is prohibited.
If you share devices with minors, use the parental controls built into your operating system and browser, and avoid storing login details on shared equipment.
Basic principles
- Play for entertainment only. Gambling is leisure spending, not an investment.
- Do not chase losses. Trying to win back what you lost usually increases the total loss.
- Set limits. Decide how much money and how much time you will spend before you start.
- Never use money needed for essential expenses. Rent, food, healthcare, education and debts stay out of it.
- Do not gamble with borrowed money. Borrowing in order to play is a warning sign.
- Gambling should not be treated as a source of income. Over the long run the mathematical edge sits with the operator.
- Avoid playing under the influence of alcohol or while angry, anxious or upset.
Warning signs
It is worth reviewing your own behaviour if any of these apply:
- Repeatedly playing longer or spending more than you planned.
- Hiding your gambling from family, a partner or people close to you.
- Borrowing, selling belongings or using money meant for something else in order to keep playing.
- Feeling anxious, irritable or restless when you are not playing.
- Neglecting work, study, health or personal relationships.
- Going straight back to playing after a loss in order to "recover".
None of these signs amounts to a diagnosis. If several of them feel familiar, speaking to a health professional is the most useful step.
Self-control tools
Authorised platforms usually offer features inside the user account to limit activity:
- Deposit limits on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
- Time limits on sessions, along with play reminders.
- Cooling-off periods that block access for a set time.
- Self-exclusion, which prevents access to the platform for an extended period.
- Activity history, so you can review real deposits, bets and results.
Setting limits before you start playing works far better than setting them after a significant loss.
Where to get help
In the Province of Buenos Aires, the provincial lottery institute (Instituto Provincial de Lotería y Casinos), together with the provincial Ministry of Health, runs the Programa de Prevención y Asistencia al Juego Compulsivo, a free public support network.
- Free programme helpline: 0800-444-4000, answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- The service provides support, guidance and information, and refers people to specialised centres within the network when needed.
- In the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, a separate jurisdiction, the city lottery promotes its own free guidance line: 0800-666-6006.
You can also speak to your doctor, to the public health service in your area or to a mutual support group. Talking to someone you trust is usually the first step.
Promelio does not provide health services, does not make diagnoses and is not a substitute for professional advice.
If you are worried about someone else
Problem gambling affects the people around it too. If you are concerned about a family member or a friend, avoid making blame and monitoring the only response: a direct conversation and contact with a specialised service tend to help more. The helplines listed above also assist relatives.
The role of this site
Promelio publishes information about online entertainment promotions and offers. It does not run games, take bets or manage accounts. The information published by the operator always prevails, and the decision to play is personal and voluntary.
